We’ve moved! From Houston to Alberta! And I’m back from a little break- what a difference in climate and culture! Our family has been enjoying cool, fall weather, and all the beautiful colours outside our window. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a wonderful display of fall colours. Mainly yellow, but oh, so bright!
I really don’t have much to say for this post, except, “Hello!” and, “I’ve missed hanging out on here!” It’s good to be back from my break, and to have a spot in our new house especially for this little hobby of mine.
After spending our two week quarantine in the house, my family was antsy to go exploring! I’ve included a few photos of the places we saw over the last few weeks. One of the adventures was climbing a 1km steep hike up to a beautiful green/blue mountain lake. I was so tired from hiking, that I didn’t take any pictures. Haha. Oh, well.
The whole family has also been enjoying some of the Canadian food that we’ve missed these past 5.5 years that we’ve spent in Houston. Ketchup chips, perogies, coffee crisp bars and poutine are a few to name. Yum! I will say, though, that I’ve made some meals that had become favourites in Texas, and boy, did they wolf them down! Especially tacos with homemade tortillas!
We are making friends here, as well. Almost on a weekly basis, being invited here and there. We are being quite careful to follow the Alberta Covid guidelines, though. Meeting in parks, and not having dinner with large groups of people at one time. We feel very welcome here in Alberta, and love our new town!
One more thing. I’ve discovered a woolen mill about 40 minutes from our home, and boy am I excited to visit! Plus, some of our new friends are sheep farmers and mentioned that they may have some wool available for me! Yahoo! Although my spinning wheel has been a little dormant these past few weeks, I know it is not a hobby I will lose interest in.
Take care, and see you very soon!
