Most of my posts have been about cooking or baking or keeping home/kids. This post is going to be a little different. A little bit personal, but not in an uncomfortable way, you know? We’re going to see a sunrise in Galveston.
We all need a little break once in a while. Especially now with a pandemic going on, and for us, having just moved for the first of two moves in the next couple of months. Stress can kind of get you down a bit. Maybe a lot. I think because of the extra stress, my husband and I have been feeling a bit of a need for a nice date. A little drive here and there for ice cream is our usual go-to date on the ordinary, but we needed a little something else this weekend.
If you know me, you can say that I am definitely not a morning person. So, it took some convincing to get me up at 4:30 a.m. to make the hour-long trek to the Gulf, as everyone around here calls it. My husband kindly packed me some coffee for the ride:)
We arrived just as the sun was rising. Let me tell you, it was amazing. The water was warm, the breeze was cool, the gulls flew overhead. Amazing. All the cares seemed to lift for just a while. It was worth the drive and the early morning.
Sometimes an unconventional date is just what we need. It didn’t cost much. We were home by 9:30, and came home refreshed. We spent time together. No, we didn’t hash out our future plans. No, we didn’t talk about anything deep. We just spent time together. Mostly silent, with a smile here and there. It was wonderful. The sunrise in Galveston reminded me to think outside the box when it comes to spending time with my husband. I wonder what our next adventure will be?
I really hope this little rambling encourages you to spend time in unconventional ways with your spouse. Thanks for stopping by!
