Here we’ll discuss what homemaking is, and what makes a homemaker.
So, what is homemaking? Is it decorating your house with beautiful things? Cooking delicious meals in your kitchen? Taking care of your loved ones at home? What is it? Is homemaking still alive? Something people actually do? Does making a house a home actually exist?
I believe homemaking is all the things above, but only on a superficial level. Better said, the things written above are a product of homemaking.
When I became a homemaker, I don’t think I really realized what was happening until I actually woke up one day. I was standing in our small living room, pregnant, and holding our 1.5 year old. Then I realized that I was the one who needed to make our house a home. I needed to open the curtains, turn on the vacuum and tidy up.
Of course homemaking is not just doing those chores. It is more than a mindset. It is a matter of the heart. You don’t have to have a completely clean home or be a gourmet cook to be a great homemaker.
All you need is a passion. A passion to make a home for your family.
When we become successful homemakers, our families will have a deep sense of peace, settledness and calm in our home. So will our friends, relatives and anyone entering. You’ve been to someone’s house and it felt great to be there, right? Even if it wasn’t perfectly picked up or had a designer feel to it. That is the mark of a great homemaker.
Whether you are at home full time, or are working to help your family, you can become a fantastic homemaker! Do the things that cherish your family. We’ve all heard that it’s the small things that count. It’s true. Tell yourself that it matters. That you matter.
So, is making a home still alive? It’s thriving, even if it’s under the surface. You just need to bring it out. Just look in the mirror and tell yourself you can do it!
