Our family needs a dog. I didn’t always believe this, but now I do. In fact, I was really scared to get a dog. All I could think about were all the things that could go wrong. Like, what if we can’t train it? What if it bites? What if it’s not smart???
Well, it turned out that my fears were all for nothing. Even though the picture above really makes our dog LOOK dumb, she isn’t. Haha. She’s goofy, yes, but not stupid. Maggie is good-natured, and it was a breeze to potty train and crate train her. We followed all the advice from our breeder, and it worked!
Above is a photo of Maggie when she was just a little puppers. We’ve had Maggie for a year and a half, and have not regretted getting her even once.
So, why does our family need a dog? Well, this may sound a bit cliche, but she brings us a whole lot of joy. Especially to our kids. Seeing as we’ve just moved from our home to a temporary home, our kids have felt just a little “off” lately. Maggie is always there to bring a smile to our faces!
Maggie is a Havachon – part Havanese, part Bichon. This breed especially loves to be around their family, and Maggie is no exception. She often searches the house for her kids, and will whine at the door if they’re in their room alone. While this is a bit annoying at times, it feels good to be wanted, especially for snuggles and licks!
Our family loves having campfires in the backyard. This is one of Maggie’s favourite pastimes, too! She always finds a lap to hop up into. And seeing as we’ve been having fires with her around since she was a small puppy, she’s not afraid of the fire, and respects it at the same time.
I guess what I’m trying to say, is that if your family is on the fence about getting a puppy, do your research, and go for it! We got our puppy here. If we were not moving from Texas soon, I think I’d try to talk my husband into getting another one!
Hopefully this little encouragement will convince a few of you to take the leap and get a puppy. It really is a whole lot of fun – and who knew I’d love her as much as I do?
